Visas for Foreign Expert Workers

There are a variety of different types of work visas available to foreigners desiring to work in Israel, and one of these addresses foreign expert workers. There are a few different types of foreign expert workers to whom Israel grants visas. These include people who are in management or trusted employees of a foreign company, senior staff in a foreign airline or shipping company, a lecturer or researcher in higher education, a foreign artist, and a medical intern, among a few others.

Israeli Work Visa for a Medical Intern

Israel grants work visas to medical interns or other foreign experts for Israeli hospitals in certain cases. A hospital must submit the application on behalf of the foreign worker. The foreign worker may come as part of an internship program or may be employed as an expert doctor on the recommendation of Israel’s Ministry of Health.

In order to receive an Israeli work visa for a medical intern or another expert in a hospital, it is mandatory to include a recommendation letter from the Ministry of Health in the application. As of 2005, a maximum of 50 work permits are granted to foreign expert workers in hospitals who are not doctors. These work visas are often granted for two years at a time.
